Install / UpGrade: The file is a self-extracting zip file. If you saved it, double click on the file when it has downloaded.
This will install SmartMan onto your machine. If you already had a version of SmartMan running it will upgrade that version. For information on the file structure click here.
What Happens: Installation will copy all of the program files necessary to run the program. All of your data from previous tests will remain on your hard drive. It will not erase these. If it has been a major upgrade, this will be stated on the download page. For major upgrades, SmartMan will create a new subdirectory under that number. This will mean that on log in you will not see the existing login names. To see have those logins and data appear, you must copy all of the login files to the new subdirectory.
MAINTAINING SMARTMAN
Your Ambu SmartMan is an accurate scientific instrument. The manikin has many moving parts and the digital interface require care. It is possible to break these parts. In order to maintain the complete system at the highest working order, we suggest that you do the following:
Software: Keep it up to date. We suggest that you click on the following link, or the link in the product about every 3 months.
-
Manikin: Maintain it in top condition. When in use, place the back into its holder. Keep the skin free from dirt.
-
TIK (Technical Integration Kit): This is an electronic component and is connected to the computer and the manikin via cables. When in use, place it out of the way so that it does not get kicked or walked on. Check to see that the cables fit into their connections.
-
Cables: There is a 6 pin cable that goes into the popup on the manikin. This must be firmly connected. Be careful not to force this in. Do NOT bent the prongs. There is a dimple in the connector and this must line up with the correct spot on the popup.
-
Calibration: This procedure assures that the moving parts in the manikin are producing signals correctly and accurately. Calibrating also act to fine tune the system so you receive the most accurate reading possible.
Your SmartMan system is composed of many moving parts. As any device, it will require service from time to time to maintain it.
