Below is a list of common error message and a descritpion of what they mean.

Calibrating Problems
SmartMan must be calibrated the first time you use it and then every so often in order to insure accurate readings.
To calibrate you must perform several compressions and ventilations accurately. To learn the technique to accomplish this easily and quickly, see this document or download a pdf file on Calibrating SmartMan.  |

Registering Problems version before 3.7
Version 3.7 and later has changed the way registeration is processed. This greatly reduces issues which were caused by fire walls, antivirus programs and other protection programs. If you are have any of the following problems, we suggest that you Download and Install the latest version.
If you want to continue to use a version prior to version 3.7 and want to deal with these issues: Student Number does not write into the space; How to change browser settings; How to change anti virus settings; How to change firewall settings;

No Access to Skills Menu
To use SmartMan you must first log in. There are only two reasons that the SKILLS MENUS is NOT bright white, meaning it is available.
- The person who has logged in has not yet Registered. To solve this, register.
- The manikin is not calibrated. To solve this calibrate the manikin. The manikin must be calibarate for each computer that it is run on.
- The Registrations are no longer valid. There are a couple of reasons this might happen.
- Your Register is more than 60 days old. To solve this, maek sure you are connected to the internet, click on the Register Button. Your details should already be filled into the spaces. Press Submit.
- The total number of user registrations has been used. To solve this contact SmartMan to purchase more users.
- The Annual License Fee for Users has not been paid.

Cannot submit results?
When you complete a test, SmartMan by default will try to send the results to the server. If the internet connection is slow or if there is a problem, the test results may not get through. SmartMan will allow you to view the results regardless of whether the results get submitted to the server or not.
To solve this issue, make sure that your internet connection is active. Make sure you are logged in. Go to "View Previous Results". Select the skill and then the test results you wish to submit.
A screen will appear that asks whether you wish to submit the results now or not. Click submit via internet.

Not sure if the results have been submitted?
When you complete a test, SmartMan will default to trying to send the results to the server. If you are not sure if this has happened successfully or not, you can resubmit the results. To do this:
- Login as the person whose data submission you want to check
- From the Main Menu, click on “View Previous Results"
- Select teh Type of Skill (COmpressions, Ventilations, CPR, Advanced Airway)
- Choose the test results you want (click on it once)
- You now have the option to 'Submit Results'
Click on this button. If the results are already in the database, you will see the message “SmartMan already has a copy of these results for this student number and have not been submitted”. If the results are not there, they will be uploaded at this time.
It will tell you if they are already submitted. If they ahve nto been submitted, they willsubmit them now.

Manikin Not Connected
When you enter a new login name or select a login name, you are asked for your password. If this is correct, SmartMan will check to verify that the USB cable is connected to the manikin and the computer. If there is an error, you will see this error screen.
When you click retry you will need to re-enter the login information and the password.
You cannot use SmartMan if a proper connection cannot be verified.

Out or Tests or Out of Practices
For every person who registers, SmartMan allows 20 practices and 3 tests on each of the skills available in compressions, ventilations and CPR. If you try to do more than 3 practices or 3 tests, you will see an error.
To get around this, do another registration. Many organizations have several general registrations pre-done so they have access at any time to a number of practices and tests to demonstrate skills.  |

Registering - Out of Key Codes Error
This error can display when you go to register. It can be displayed if the program was unable to verify whether key codes are still available. This could be due to a very slow internet connection or a problem contacting the server.
Alternatively, it could be that you or your organization have exceeded the number of persons that can register under the key code you have purchased. Contact Ambu SmartMan at info@ambusmartman.com or call the hotline on ( 800) 979-0419.

Registering - Already Registered Error
When you register, SmartMan records the name you used to register and connects this to the key code. If you use a registration name that has already been used, you will receive an error saying that name has already been used.
Return to the Main Menu. Go to registration and change the name you wish to use to register. This means that the registration name that you have used has already been used with this key code.
Firewall or Anti-virus Problem: If the student number was not able to be placed into the correct area in the SmartMan program, the student number will have been issued by the server but is not entered into the program. Thus when you go to register, you will get this error when you try to re-register.
The easiest way to get around this is to check that you are connected to the internet. Make sure that your fire wall and anti virus programs are set to allow the data through, and then crate a new login and register.
