Support: Registering On SmartMan
In order to use SmartMan each person must create a login and register.
In order to make the registration process as easy as possible, there are a number of ways that people can register. You can register
- Register as an individual user,
- Register using e a pre-existing template

- Register as part of a large group (Bulk Registration)
- Pre-register for a class via the internet for a class already set up
NOTE: In order to make the registration process easier and quicker, SmartMan has introduced a major change to the registration process with version 3.7 and later.
Thus you must know which Version of the software you are running.

SmartMan has introduced a major change to the registration process with version 3.7 and later.
FIND THE VERSION YOU ARE RUNNING. Login and go to the Main Menu. It will on the right hand side half way down the page. |

Register as an individual user
There are two places to register a user from within SmartMan.
Login and from the Main Menu click "Register".
If someone else is already logged in, click on "Login in a New User". Once you are logged in, from the Main Menu click Register.
If you have already registered, you cannot register a second time. The Register Button will be shaded if this is the case.
When you have successfully registered you will receive a Student Number. Keep a note of this number as it allows you full access to all of the SmartMan sections. It will also be sent to the email address which you used.  |

Register And Using the Template
There are 2 different systems for setting up a template. If you are using a version before version 3.7 go here.
If you are using the current version (Version 3.7 and later) continue below. You will see the following form which only has 4 fields which you must fill in.

Key Code: When you have put in a correct Key Correct, a check mark will appear to the right.
Email:When your registration is complete, a student number will be sent to this email address. Also if you forget your password, it will be sent to this email address.
Completed Form: When all of the fields are completed, the Submit registration Button will appear. You must be connected to the internet to submit this information. It will send this information to the server. When all of the information is verfied, the server will send back a student number and it will appear in teh space provided. You shoudl make a note of your student number as it can be used to view your results at a later time.
Once the student number has been received, the program will create a folder on the hard drive which will contain the information related to your results. This allow syou to view your results when you have compelted a practice or a test.
How to Create a Template
Whatever information you put into the 4 fields can be saved as a template. At the bottom of the page there are 2 buttons.

The "Save To Template" Button will save any information which is filled in, into a template. We suggest that you enter the Key Code and then press the Save To Template Button.
Using the Template
When new person registers, they can
- a) type in all of their information and submit it, OR
- b) they can press the "Read From Template" Button will be able to fill in the information you have saved in that template by pressing the "Read From Template" button.
A Registration Template is simply information that is stored and when you go to register it will pre-fill in some of the information for you. This reduces input errors and it speeds up the registration process. A good use of using the Registration Template is to provide the student with the Key Code.
Suggestion: Fill in the key code, then press the "Save as template" button.
When anyone registers, they start by pressing the "Read from Template" button. That will put the key code in for them.

Register a Second Time or More
When you register, your registration does not last for ever. it will expire in 60 days or if the user license has not been renewed after 12 months from when SmartMan was purchased.
If your registration has expired, then you can still use the existing login.
In version 3.7 and later, if you used the same login name and password, the registration form should be pre-filled. Simply submit it and you will be re-registered.
Registration Still Current: If your current login is current, you cannot register again. The register button will be grayed out. If all of the practices or tests have been used up, create a new login, fill out the registration form and submit it.  |

Register Using Bulk Registration
This utility program allows a trainer or group leader to pre-register as many people as they want. It is designed for use if you want to pre-register more than a couple dozen people at once.
Here is how it works:
- Download the Excel Template file.
- Fill in the information on each person.
- Attach the file to an email and send it to us.
We pre-register all your people for you. This verifies the accuracy of the files, creates the necessary seats on the server and makes sure everything is ready to go. We then send you back a zip file.
You then:
- Unzip the file
- Copy the files in the records directory
(C:\V4EMS_DATA\V4EMS_3-7\records\)
The logins can go onto multiple machines if required. When a student goes to login, they then click on their name, enter the assigned password and are ready to use SmartMan.  |

Pre-register for a class
If a class administrator or director is using the SmartMan Administrator Module, then it is possible to create and schedule classes.
Contact your class organizer and ask for the Class code. Login via the internet and complete the registration.
